The stuff of legend, Carrie changed the game of what commercial theatre can accomplish as a form of art. Michael Gore’s score brazenly fuses together opera and pop, building an untraditional foundation upon which director Terry Hands reshapes Stephen King’s parable of horror into a neoteric Greek tragedy. The electrifying result was a production that challenged audiences through allegorical storytelling, a dramatic structure adapted from Aeschylus for modern musical theatre, and imagery fraught with symbolism. Erik Champney's The Master Cut is a film that captures the magic, the mystery, and the incredible audacity of this unstoppable musical.

Contemporary audiences now have the opportunity to experience Carrie as never before and decide for themselves what they feel about this unprecedented achievement that has sent shockwaves through the world for decades.
